Nina says, “I love you to the moon, mama!” and with a very full heart I think to myself, how sweet to measure an emotion in such a way!
Sometimes in our lives we get so obsessed with the numbers. Money, weight, age, bedrooms in our house, miles on the car….
Do we really need that?
Simply, No.
In American culture especially, I have found that people are obsessed about making the scale drop - even more so than how they FEEL. This is seen as health.
The number on the scale somehow offers a sense of accomplishment, rather than the realization that when we do good for ourselves, we feel good too!
My body type is naturally slender (thanks mom and dad!) but it still bothers me when people tell me “oh you are getting too thin” or “you really should eat more” or “wow, have you lost weight”
It is so strange to me that these are seen as COMPLIMENTS in our society or that they feel it’s ok to have an opinion about.
It is much more IMPORTANT and HEALTHY to tune in to how we are FEELING.
There are so many ways to boost your mood without competing with a scale:
~Go for a walk outside
~Sit in the garden
~Play with your kids
~Cook a delicious meal your body is craving
~Call a friend
These things are going to make you feel awesome inside, and out!
THIS is what makes you great, not a number on a scale or how many emails you answered today.
A number is just a number.
It is more important how you feel about yourself and how healthy you are.
Just as we do not measure how much love we have in numbers, nor should we measure our happiness!
